Q: How do I pay my bill with a credit card?
A: Three options are available for customers wishing to pay their bill using credit or debit cards: DTE Energy eBill and Pay Online, or a phone option - Express Pay. The DTE Energy eBill and Pay Online accept Visa or MasterCard and there is no charge for credit or debit card payments.

The Express Pay service accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover. A convenience fee is charged for each transaction.

  Q: What is Express Pay?
A:  Express Pay is telephone payment method for paying your bill. A service fee of $3.95 is charged by the Express Pay service provider. You can use Visa, MasterCard, Discover, a debit card or personal checking account to make your payment. Allow 2-4 business days for the payment to be applied to your DTE Energy account. As long as payment is made by 2 p.m. Eastern Time on the due date, you will not be charged a late fee.

To complete your Express Pay transaction, please call 800.477.4747.

  Q: Where do I mail a payment?
A: Simply return your DTE Energy payment coupon with a check or money order for the amount of your payment in the return envelope provided with your bill. Do not send cash. If you are paying more than one account, you can pay with one check or money order. Just return all payment coupons with your payment. If you do not have your coupon, include your complete account number on your check or money order. Please allow five days for U.S. Postal delivery to ensure your payment is received and processed by the due date.

If you have misplaced your return envelope, mail payments to:
DTE Energy
P.O. Box 740786
Cincinnati, OH 45274-0786

A: Pay your bill in person at any of the many Automated Payment Agents located conveniently throughout Michigan or at any of our Customer Office locations.

Find a Payment Agent

Payment agents send your bill payments electronically to DTE Energy. Payments are applied to your account within 1-2 business days. Authorized Payment Agents accept payments in cash, checks and money orders for full or partial amounts, before or after the due date - including shut-off notice payments.

Please keep the following in mind when paying your bill at a Payment Agent:

  • Bring your Bill - Payment agents need your payment coupon (upper portion of your DTE Energy bill) to accept your payment.
  • Processing Fees - Some agents may charge a nominal processing fee for their service.

Find a Customer Office

DTE Energy Customer Offices are open from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) to serve you. You may perform both Detroit Edison and MichCon transactions at these locations.

Pay Stations are available at the Customer Office locations marked with an asterisk (*). Pay Stations provide the convenience of paying your bill quickly without waiting in long lines and provide a receipt. Payments made at a Customer Office Pay Station are applied to your account in 1-2 business days.
